I pressed the elevator up to go to the 9th floor. Waited.. waited. There was a sudden "ting" sound, and the elevator doors opened.. slowly. As I walked in, the first thing I saw was the shoes, and my eyes travelled upwards past the long legs, past the blue shirt.. and found myself looking into the eyes of a very familiar face. It was him. My heart skipped a beat, or two. The elevator doors closed, and suddenly it felt so claustrophobic inside.. and the silence was deafening.. Looked at everywhere else but at each other. For a while, time seemed to stand still. Finally, the elevator doors opened again, shedding the light of the bright fluorescents on the dimness of the elevator. I stepped out. It was the longest elevator ride of my life.
